I am thankful to Alternative To Meds Center for supporting me throughout my detox, and helping me achieve my goals successfully.

I came to Alternative To Meds Center that I could live medication-free, so that going into college I would not have to be dependent on any toxic chemicals. In March of 2018 I went into a drug-induced psychosis and ended up in a psychiatric ward in Baltimore. I did not know how long I would be there, and had no choice but to take the medications they gave me in hopes that they would discharge me soon. I was put on Risperidone, an anti-psychotic drug, as well as Lithium, a mood stabilizer. Upon discharge, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. As the medications took effect, I slowly felt my energy levels go down.

I knew that if I was going to be successful as a dancer in college and feel like myself, I had to get off the medications. My parents found Alternative To Meds Center, and off I went. It has been about six weeks since my arrival at Alternative To Meds Center, and I have successfully gotten off all medication. Fortunately, I experienced minimal adversity during my detox. Moreover, based on my genetics and family history, there is a big chance that I am not bipolar, and that my manic and psychotic episodes were just drug-induced. I am thankful to Alternative To Meds Center for supporting me throughout my detox, and helping me achieve my goals successfully.
